2009 2nd trip to Singapore ~ Frugal and Food Trip

I think this is the shortest and cheapest trip to Singapore.

23^rd night 11pm departed from Penang. 24^th 5am reached Genting. Early in the morning at Genting it’s extremely cold 13 degree Celsius!! Also this is my 1^st time to enter the Casino~ well nothing really special. To my surprise the guard even ask me to show him my ID ~ ha-ha which prove that I’m younger than my age >_< I didn’t gamble, just enjoy 2 cups of free Milo in the casino. My dad won RM200 from Uncle Lim~ Left Genting at around 6.30am and heading towards Singapore. Stop for breakfast at somewhere, nothing really special.

1^st day in Singapore

24^th 12.30pm reach Johor Baru. Have lunch at Pelangi Mall. Economy rice~ cheap and nice though. Leave JB and enter to the land of Singapore. Bathe then go BHS Bugis Junction. Nothing special, just walk around. And stop for tea at Ya Kun Toast. Then after awhile have dinner at Food Republic. I ate cold Soba and fried soft shell crabs. The crabs are extremely small portion and unworthy. Next go to Converse Factory Clearance Sales, again buy nothing. Go back and at 11pm go attend Christmas Dawn Mass at Kovan IHM Church. That night I wore my Modern Korean Hanbok. The songs and choir in the mass were very nice; however the priest sermon was kind of bored. After the mass which is already the next day 25^th 2.30pm, we had our late supper / early breakfast at The Prata House. We ordered Roti Prata and Mee Goreng. All taste like |||| O~ how I miss my Penang lovely food ~!!!!

 

2^nd day in Singapore

Good morning Singapore ~!! I slept till almost noon~ ha-ha. Have lunch with my Uncle’s family at The Ministry of Steak. I ate 70% done Australian Rib-eye Steak. 70% cook means you get to see the blood… ha-ha you won’t smell the blood though. Nice lunch just that I forgot to take photo. Next orchard road!! What happen? Nothing. Just a bunch of walking. Though there’re 3 new shopping mall [Ion, Orchard Central, Somerset 313] everything almost the same. Among these 3 my favorite mall is Ion. Ion is a high class shopping mall full of those expansive brands i.e. LV. What interested me is the basement 4 food street!! We ate at lots of stuff at that floor. E.g. Korean street food [BBQ chicken stick , fried fries and hot dog sticks] , Japanese Okonomiyaki , Curry and potato koroke , Chinese Red bean paste fried dessert , and my favorite Ginza Bairin Japanese Dessert Ice-cream set!! After that I bought a box of Japanese Dessert [$15.00/RM36.15] at Nippon-ya. Then just keep on walking and nothing special.

 

3^rd day in Singapore [last day]

Go out and had lunch at Ion again!! Had dessert at Ginza Bairin again~ shopped at Orchard Road. This time I finally bought something. One stupid tumbler [$2.95/RM7.11] at Watson , one stupid Tigger plush (Next year is the year of Tiger so I bought Tigger)[$8/RM19.28] at Takashimaya. Leave Orchard road , ate Katong Laksa and went to Metro Expo Sales.  I bought one dress [$19.00/RM45.79] , one CNY blouse (odd looking he-he but kinda cheap) [$7.00/RM16.87] , one pair of Crocs Sandals (again odd looking too) [$10.00/RM24.10] and one Akemi Pillow (actually is two , one for my dad) [$9.50/RM22.90]. That’s all and had dinner at Ikea Café.  At 11pm we packed and leave Singapore~!! Around 1pm the next day 27^threach Penang ~ my lovely Island!!

Review: This is the cheapest trip ever to Singapore!! Before we go, my grandmother already gave me $300 as pocket money and when we reach I get another $300 from my Uncle. Since we spend less during the trip therefore I get to keep the$300 gave by my Uncle. After conversion it’s already RM723 ha-ha ~!! Nice one!! As a conclusion the whole Singapore Trip is sponsor by my granny. Thanks~ ha-ha

Talk about the new mall at Orchard Road. 313 Somerset got nothing special unless Uniqlo a Japanese Online brand count. As for Orchard Centre worst!! Really got nothing but then it’s a good experience to take the open air escalator to reach the top of the building. I think it’s about 7 floor high. That’s all…
