Had been a long time ever since I updated my
blog. Have been staying in Taipei for 1 and half month. Honestly speaking, I
got a bit of cultural shock and really needs time for me to like this new
environment.
Basically, I quite easy to settle down in a
different environment, I have no problem settling down, performing daily tasks
and work related studies. Nonetheless, it takes time for me to like this place.
Perhaps, partly is due to the fact that I didn’t do much research before coming
to this foreign land, which makes me encountered some hurdles in these period.
Lacking knowledge of this island also makes
me ignorant to their living style and sometimes ‘detests’ their behaviors. For
example, I was shocked by their questionable foreign policies, their lack of
bilingual or foreign languages opportunities; ridiculous news, slum looking
houses and their havoc traffic. On the
other hand, I like their cooler weather as compare with Singapore/Malaysia,
beautiful flowers, fruits, drugstores, and convenient stores.
Taiwan certainly is not the place that I
would think of settling when I was young. Of course, it wouldn’t be fair for me
to judge this island based on my less than 2 months experience either. Thus, I
would say to give this island an opportunity to let me experience and see the
beauty of it. As this is the choice that I had made, so I really hope that it
didn’t ruin my expectation.
